Choice Book Report Recommendation

I read Charlie St. Cloud for my first choice book report. It is by Ben Sherwood. I really liked this book. The author really captivates you when he describes the story. I thought the plot was absolutely phenomenal. I liked how every couple chapters the author would switch to the other main character and tell the story as they were living it. It made the book much more exciting. I also liked how the book kind of had a surprise ending. It wasn't expecting and the author did a really good job of not letting us on to figure it out right away. My favorite part of the book was when Charlie plays catch with Sam. It made me really sad, but I loved how Charlie was so kind and how he kept his promise to his little brother for so many years. Sam seemed so happy to be with his brother. It made me think about how much families really care for each other no matter what happens to them. Another part I liked was when Tess went off on her trip around the world on sailboat. She was so confident that she could do it. She was worry-free and didn't have a care in the world. Although things didn't turn out very well, she was very brave and didn't give up on herself. Tess always kept hope that she would survive the treacherous waves. It made even me believe that she could do it. She was very manipulating to the reader.

I would most definitely recommend this book. I would recommend it to people that like very sad books with happy endings. This book also has some romance in it, so if you don't like books about romance, I wouldn't recommend this to you. This novel reminded me of The Last Song, and Dear John. I thought that the plots and characters of these books were sort of similar. I think that if you enjoyed those books, you would like this book. During this novel, I really thought about families that have gone through what Charlie and Sam went through. It made me appreciate life more. Ben Sherwood will get your attention, and keep it until the end of this novel. Be prepared for an unexpected twist, and several happy/sad moments. I really enjoyed this book and I hope you will too. Thanks for reading!! :)

Choice Book Report Main Characters

For my choice book report I read Charlie St. Cloud by Ben Sherwood. I think that the main characters would be Charlie St. Cloud and Tess Carroll. I always pictured Charlie with dark brown hair, crystal blue eyes, tall, and tan. I pictured Tess with green eyes, light brown hair, and fair skin. These characters are very similar.
I would describe Charlie as an independent person. He is independent because he lives all by himself in the forest. Charlie lives in a small cottage next to the cemetery that he works at as an undertaker. He doesn't talk to people much and mostly keeps to himself. Charlie is also very loyal. You see, Charlie's younger brother, Sam, was killed in a car accident several years ago. Sam is now buried at the cemetery that Charlie works at. Charlie was also in the accident, and he barely made it out alive. Charlie made a promise to Sam that he would never leave him. So every night at sundown, Charlie plays catch with his little brother. Charlie has a special gift that allows him to see ghosts. Charlie is also loyal because when Tess disappears, he doesn't give up looking for her. Charlie is admired by a lot of people and he is very kind. No one in the book is mean to him. Charlie is very kind to even the people that no one is nice to. Especially the crazy man that pretends to have wars with the pigeons. ;)

Tess, like Charlie, is also independent. She likes to be by herself, especially when she's sailing. Ever since her dad died, she has become more passionate about sailing, which she learned from her dad. When she sails, she feels closer to him. So most of her time is spent at sea. I think Tess is very admirable. Almost everyone in town knows who she is and they really respect her. In return, she is very kind to them. She is also very courageous and confident. She spends days at sea all by herself, even through storms. She never gets down on herself and always stays positive. Tess never gives up and always finishes what she starts. This makes her courageous and confident.

To me, these characters were very similar. I thought that they seem like likable people that are easy going. I really enjoyed this book. ENJOY! :)

Memoir 2

It started out as a wonderful day. Playing outside in the leaves, watching my favorite movie, and to finish off the day, a delicious supper. Sounds like a perfect day for a three-year-old right? Not quite....

After I finished my cheesy and very messy lasagna, I decided to go jump on my parent's bed with Dylan, my brother, who was four at the time. While I was jumping, I was holding a medium-size, plastic elephant toy in my hand. I was having the time of my life, jumping so high my head almost touched the ceiling. But all of a sudden, I felt pain in my forehead. I was so confused and I started crying. Dylan ran to get my parents. My dad came running into the room to see why I was crying. I didn't know why I was crying either. My forehead was bleeding and it was excruciatingly painful. Then finally, my dad realized what happened. It was the elephant. The elephant's trunk went into my forehead.

My dad carried me to the car and we drove to the emergency room. It all happened so fast. All I remember is reading a Dr. Suess book with my dad while we waited for the doctor. I needed stiches and I was very scared. About five nurses had to hold down my legs so I wouldn't kick the doctor while he gave me the stitches. I screamed and cried and I wouldn't settle down. Finally, the doctor finished. I got to go home and I recovered just fine. And I now know to NEVER jump on a bed with a plastic elephant in my hand. :)
